Massive Bonsai Art & Design

Custom made decorative arts and design.

Just tell me the size of the wall you are decorating and I will design and sketch your mural. I will begin making the pieces once you approve everything.

Plaster Fishes

My mural components are made out of a mixture of plaster and mod roc. They are extremely lightweight but fortified with glue mixed into the plaster, and painted using acrylics. They can be attached to the wall using push pins and can be re-arranged easily to change the appearance of this creation. Thus, they are flexible and interactive designs.

Archaeological drawings

As a nautical archaeologist, I have worked in numerous underwater excavations and surveys. For decades, I have made detailed drawings of the artifacts we have found and studied. While these are important technical documents essential for the study of archaeological objects, they also are beautiful drawings that have been decorating the walls of friends’ houses, offices, and cafes. I am offering high-quality prints of these ink on mylar originals.

I can also make bespoke drawings of objects that you own and value using this technique.

*Detailed information about the objects and their provenance will be provided with purchased copies.

Linoleum Prints

This medium gives me the unique chance to try my colour schemes and pattern designs.

About Me

Having studied Industrial Design at university, I continued my studies at the graduate level and became a nautical archaeologist.  Subsequently, I spent my whole working life as an archaeologist who worked underwater.

For years, I wanted to make these mix-media large scale wall mural projects. In November 2018 I finally got a great space to realize this long term dream at the incredible Ocean Studios, in the Royal William Yard, Plymouth UK.

These projects combine my love of marine life, history, archaeology, and my detail-oriented drafting skills. I will upload my projects as I finish them and short videos about the techniques I use.

Summer is here!

Summer is here!

Been gone traveling for a while. Returned to a much warmer Plymouth a few days ago, and looked at these fishes. They are more festive than their previous friends, with their little necklaces and ornaments. I like this layered, textured ones, although the clay dries...

Other things

Other things

Today, I saw that I had these little pebbles still sitting around half painted... I begun this a few years ago, and never completed them... I am leaving for a short holiday tomorrow, so I didn't want to start a huge project, and thought I could just finish these. And...

Last couple of weeks

Last couple of weeks

I was in Turkey visiting family for a couple of weeks, so missed being in my studio. Got back about ten days ago, but had to catch up with other work first. But I managed to spend a couple of days working on even more fishes, and here is how that is coming along......

Developing the technique

Developing the technique

I began this project with just an idea of what it would look like in the end. I absolutely had no idea about how I was to create these shapes. It took me several trials with paper mache, plaster, clay, and several variations of these using glues etc. In the end, mod...
